Strategic Plan Development
The Opportunity: Located in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, Boulder Valley School District (BVSD) stretches from the peaks of the Continental Divide to the suburbs of Denver. When a new superintendent arrived in 2018, the district reached out to GSG to support an inclusive, data-driven strategic planning process.
Our Services: Working with the district leadership team, GSG gathered data about the district’s past performance and stakeholder perceptions, including extensive feedback gathered during the superintendent’s 100-day entry plan.
District employees representing schools and departments gathered in a session facilitated by GSG to brainstorm possible long term outcomes and strategic themes. The conversation focused on the district's data and what can be done to improve outcomes for students. A district video with highlights of the session can be viewed here.
With draft long term outcomes and strategic themes in hand, BVSD utilized a process designed and support to GSG to hold 7 community input sessions, including one for Spanish speakers, across the different regions of Boulder Valley. A video featuring these session can be viewed here.
The feedback from both staff and community members helped shape the language and finalize the long term outcomes and themes. For families unable to attend in person, GSG designed and analyzed an online feedback form.
